Choosing the right podcast software for your situation can seem daunting.
Many people tend to get overwhelmed at this stage because there is a lot of conflicting information and many options to choose from.
So, what is going to give you great audio without being overly complicated?
It comes down to the ease of use, affordability, and compatibility with your situation.
Let’s break this down.
Podcast Software For Solo Episodes
There are solo episodes where you are teaching in your area of expertise and it is simply you and your microphone.
For that style of recording, don’t worry too much about what you will record with.
If you’re on a MacBook, you will have access to GarageBand which works really great as an audio recording tool.
Whether you are on a PC or a Mac, there is a great tool that we use at Cashflow Podcasting called Audacity.
This is a free audio recording tool that provides really great quality solo recording and it is easy to do quick edits with as well.
Podcast Software For Interviews On A Call
If you are doing interviews over a call, you can use Zoom.
Everyone knows how to use Zoom so this is a great option if you are interviewing someone who isn’t as tech savvy.
There are a few settings you can adjust, which we go over in our blog post The Perfect Podcast Equipment For Any Situation.
This will help you get the best audio using Zoom.
However, Zoom does not record the best audio and it does not have the best video quality even with the proper settings.
If you want to record better video/audio or you don’t want to pay for Zoom pro, there are a couple of options:
1. SquadCast
2. Riverside
3. Iris
Alternatively, there is our personal favorite, Zencastr.
It’s a simple, easy-to-use solution with a no-frills approach that is free to use if you opt for the first level.
At the end of the day, as long as it’s good enough to record the podcast episode, simply pick whichever one looks best to you and go from there.
The Best Podcast Software For Any Situation
If you are doing in-person recordings such as interviews or panel discussions where everyone is in the same room, that’s going to be a much more complex recording scenario.
For this, we suggest checking out our previously mentioned blog post The Perfect Podcast Equipment For Any Situation.
This will go far more in-depth than we would be able to in this episode.
