All right folks, this one is a golden one. Here’s how you can use podcasting to meet some of the biggest movers and shakers, the top dogs, those people that you’ve known about for a long time in your industry. You just want to meet them, you want to get them on the phone, you want to chat with them and “pick their brains.” This is a perfect way to do it.

I’m Ben Krueger. This is Authority Engine TV where I’m dedicated to helping you grow your business using the power of podcast marketing every Thursday morning. Let’s do it guys.

All right folks, this is a fun one. To me it’s one of the really big power benefits of podcasting and why do you even start it in the first place. This is essentially networking through podcasting. What it’s going to allow you to do is meet some of those bigger-name people in your industry. Let’s say you run a podcast in a specific market and you do interviews on occasion. It doesn’t even have to be an interview-based show, but if you do interviews on occasion you’ve got the perfect podcast format for this.

You can reach out to whoever those industry leaders are that are a little bit … You’re going to want to start with somebody who’s part way up the ladder so that you can get some momentum and you can make yourself relatable to the people that are the real top dogs in the future. For now you want to find somebody who’s three-fourths the way up there who would be open to talking with you on the phone or they just came out with a product, they just came out with a new book, they just came out with something that they want to get the word out about or they want to position themselves as an expert on.

You can reach out to them and say hey … Let’s just say their name is John. Let’s say “Hey, John. Just wanted to give you a quick shout because I run this podcast and our audience loves to hear about x,” which generally is very closely related to whoever you’re emailing or whoever you’re reaching out to and their area of expertise or their products and services.

You could say I’ve got a podcast, my listeners are all into this, and I know they would love to hear from you some of your expertise about your products and services. You know, that kind of stuff, to where they clearly understand that yes, you want them to come on and talk about what they know, their expertise, but they’re also going to be able to mention their products, services, or their book, or whatever it is they just came out with. There’s really that kind of benefit there.

The other part that you can use to help make this an easier decision for them is say previously we’ve had this person, this person, and this person that you may know on the show and they’ve all had a great time, or they all found great value in speaking with our audience, or something along those lines so you can show them that this isn’t just a random thing. You’re not just randomly reaching out to them. You’ve actually put some thought into this and there’s other people who have done this as well.

Okay, and the final part of your outreach is to directly either email them or call them, say hey I would love to have you on the show. Here’s why: my audience is like this and they’ll love you because of this. You can share your products, services, books, whatever with them.

The final part – and this is really important – is make sure that you include to say we’d love to have you on. However, if you don’t feel like it’s a good fit, no worries. I appreciate your time. It’s never a hard sell. It’s always hey, I would love to give you this opportunity to come on my show and share your expertise and your products and services or book or whatever with my audience. If it’s not a good fit, that’s fine, no worries. Hope you have a good day.

That’s all there is to it. My name’s Ben Krueger. This is Authority Engine TV. As always we’ll be back next week, next Thursday morning with more Authority Engine TV to help you grow your business using the power of podcast marketing. Have a good one, folks.
