Welcome back. I’m Ben Krueger and this is Authority Engine TV where I’m dedicated to helping you grow your small business using the power of podcast marketing every Thursday morning.

Today we are going to be talking about how to name your podcast.  This one is obviously for those of you who are looking to get started in podcasting. You’re kind of right at the cusp there and you are trying to figure out how should you name your show. There’s a couple of things that you should consider when it comes to naming a podcast.

The first one that you want to consider is if you are starting a podcast to help promote your company, you may want to name your podcast the same name as your brand. That’s something that I did. Authority Engine Podcast is The Authority Engine Podcast. So that’s me. That’s where I talk about small business podcasting and all that kind of stuff. That is one option. If you want to promote your brand you can use that name.

Another option is to obviously look at the topic that you’re going to be talking about. I’m going to have a couple of examples throughout the community and from some of my clients, as well, for how we did the naming, but I want to cover a couple of these things first.  Like I said, option number two is the topic you are talking about on your show. The whole idea of the show. There’s a couple of principles that you will want to keep in mind when naming your show on a topic basis. Number one, you want it short and simple. Keep it sweet. Keep it short.

Number two, people should understand from that title what they’re going to get listening to the show. They should have a general understanding of what is going to be in the show. A great example of this is the Starting from Nothing Podcast by Andy Drish. It’s all about how entrepreneurs literally can start from nothing and grow their businesses. It gives you an idea of what they are talking about and it gives you a really descriptive answer.  It’s short, it’s simple and it’s sweet.

The final option is kind of a combination.  It kind of jumps in and can tag onto whatever you are already doing.  Specifically if you want to grow your expertise or your brand or your personality as an expert in the industry. If you want your name to be known as the expert in the industry or your brand to be known as the expert in the industry, here’s what you want to do.

For example, we have the Brainfluence Podcast with Roger Dooley.  Essentially you have your normal title and then you add with whatever brand name or whatever host name. In this case, it’s the host name. One option I had considered doing when I started Authority Engine was doing the Small Business Podcasting Show by Authority Engine or by Ben Krueger or with Ben Krueger.

These are some options you have to play with and you can kind of toy around with which one is the best fit for you.

I’m Ben Krueger. This is Authority Engine TV. Hope it’s been really helpful. If you really enjoy what you’re seeing on the show, go ahead and subscribe to the You Tube Channel because there’s a lot more coming.
